    Business Development Manager / Program Manager

    The business development manager is responsible for expanding the firm's business with new and existing clients and will penetrate existing markets through assessment of marketing opportunities and target markets; intelligence gathering on customers and competitors; generating leads for possible sales; advising on, drafting and enforcing sales policies and processes; follow-up sales activity; formal proposal and presentation management and writing; pitch and presentation rehearsals; business model design; account planning and performance monitoring; proposition and campaign development. This person will create and build relationships while sponsoring interaction to obtain projects.

    While the primary role of this position is business development, this individual may also be required to manage programs that the individual brings to the company. This role will entail oversight over program details such as technical, manufacturing, schedule, budget, customer interface, meetings and presentations, and other program management responsibilities.

    Summary of Essential Job Functions:
    • Calls on and contacts existing and potential clients to promote SDC's business
    • Aligns the client needs to the functions of SDC
    • Proposes and wins new business with existing and new clients
    • Communicates effectively with internal groups to ensure appropriate goals are set throughout the planning process to win business
    • Provides detailed plans regarding current and upcoming business proposals to members of the SDC team in order to budget resources appropriately
    • Provides excellent communication and customer service to the client and internal departments
    • Works with clients and Engineers to solve queries that may arise
    • Negotiates rates with new and existing clients that will meet business objectives and goals
    • Meets business revenue targets assigned by the company
    • Provides program management oversight as required
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Engineering
    • Three years of experience in Business Development in the Aerospace Engineering field; experience in the areas of Missile Defense, Tactical Missiles and Canisters, Space and Optics, Engineering Services, and Testing is a plus
    • More than five years of Engineering experience in any of the above areas and a strong technical background in one or more of these areas: design, analysis, fabrication, and/or testing
    • Expertise in budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning
    • A minimum of three years experience in Program Management
    Knowledge of the Following Theory, Principles, Practices and/or Content:
    • Expertise in client and vendor business functions
    • Knowledge of key level decision makers at client company
    • Experience writing business proposals, managing a business plan, sales
    • Management techniques and effective employee supervision
    • Budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning
    • Scheduling
    Skills / Abilities:
    • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituents
    • Plan, organize, and manage the activities of the organization
    • Exercise good judgment, taking into account a broad range of inputs and advice
    • Provide organizational leadership
    • Develop and implement effective organizational policies and procedures
    • Establish priorities and direct the allocation of company resources
    • Promote collaborative participation among departments and clients to achieve operational goals
    • Excellent leadership and motivation skills
    • Ability to take client feedback to group to enhance and modify product for clearer understanding
    Other Requirements:
    • Ability to evaluate potential clients as well as SDC from a business standpoint and then realize its full potential; successful candidates will have a thorough understanding of Marketing, information/knowledge management and customer service
    • This position requires a unique learning ability to stay ahead of the Aerospace Engineering development curve; this person will help invent and reinvent processes, theories, practices and methodologies to optimize knowledge gathered from peers, groups, media, literature and industry to maximize the internal talents for the growth of the company, attraction and retention of clients
    • The work requires light physical exertion with long periods of sitting, occasional standing and walking; limited bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; occasional lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds
    • National travel required
    • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements
    • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
