Testing Services

SDC offers a large suite of testing services for Tactical Missile Structures and Subsystems.

United Test Machine with Environmental United Test Machine with Environmental ChamberBeginning at the coupon and subcomponent level, SDC can perform mechanical testing of most material allowables test standards. This testing includes hot/wet environments for missile and aircraft applications from -200°F to + 1150°F using the 20 kip United Test Machine combined with the ATS environmental test chamber. SDC is capable of performing small lot or full B-Basis materials testing. For high temperature tests, SDC uses a quartz lamp heating assembly combined with the United Test Machine to achieve a 60°F/sec heating rate for composite materials. The quartz lamp assembly has several configuration options including focused beam, line and panel heaters.

Multi-axis Test FrameAt the full scale level, SDC has performed full scale static and dynamic testing using our in-house Modular Test Frame. The frame is sized to test structures as large as 6 feet tall and 4 feet in diameter. SDC provides all 32 channels of instrumentation and collects data using a Dewetron high speed data acquisition. The Dewetron has a programmable scan rate, gain and excitation settings, 16-bit D/A, double buffered measurements as well as Bridge completion, shunt and null capabilities.

With a full data acquisition system in place, we have successfully tested composite hardware in various static and shock environments as well. A high-speed camera system is also employed to provide visual data of test runs when required.
