Carl Sloan Joins San Diego Composites
SAN DIEGO, CA, June 2016 - San Diego Composites, a leader in composite products development and manufacturing for the aerospace and defense markets, is pleased to announce that Carl Sloan has joined SDC to support its growth in the space structures market as Vice President of Strategic Development.
Mr. Sloan has over 30 years of experience with composite space structures, including engineering, program management and business development. He has worked on numerous products including instrument structures, optical benches, spacecraft antenna reflectors, spacecraft bus and solar array substrates for US and foreign commercial, civil and military customers.
Mr. Sloan’s charter is to increase SDC’s presence in the orbital space structures market by providing the industry leading engineering capabilities at SDC directly to the prime contractors. This along with the large scale composites manufacturing capabilities of SDC will be a discriminator in an industry that typically outsources engineering.
The large scale manufacturing capabilities of SDC’s composites facility, along with our new 16 foot diameter autoclave and on-site engineering resources, provide turnkey build-to-spec or build-to-print capabilities at a small business cost.”
Prior to joining SDC, Mr. Sloan was Vice President of Engineering at Vanguard Space Technologies. During his 14 year tenure at Vanguard he held several positions and led the establishment and growth of the antenna reflector product area. He also led the programs and business development groups during key growth periods. Mr. Sloan brings this legacy of successful space flight heritage to SDC to augment its management team.
Rob Kolozs, President of SDC, said, “SDC is very pleased to have Carl join us. His experience will help key areas of our business and provide a great resource for both existing and new customers in the space composite structures area. We are looking forward to Carl’s contributions to our growing business.
