SDC’s 16-Foot Diameter Autoclave Now Fully Operational
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 2016 – San Diego Composites, Inc. (SDC) is proud to announce operational status of a new state-of-the art autoclave with a working envelope of 16-ft diameter x 30-ft length and curing capabilities of 150 psi maximum pressure/ 500°F maximum temperature. Due to its sheer size, the new autoclave was fabricated on-site at SDC’s Activity Road facility. Construction began in April of 2015 and was fully completed in January of this year. The 16-ft autoclave is SDC’s most recent investment in continually enhancing its fleet of processing capabilities, which also includes a 6-ft diameter autoclave, four ovens up to 1400 cubic feet in individual capacity, and two heated platen presses. The 16-ft autoclave is a rare capability for a small business like SDC, providing customers with the opportunity to process large composite hardware in one piece.
