SDC Announces New 16 Foot Diameter Autoclave

SDC Announces New 16 Foot Diameter Autoclave

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 6, 2015 – San Diego Composites, Inc. (SDC) has expanded its composite curing capability with a new autoclave that has a working envelope of 16-ft diameter and 30-ft length, making it the largest autoclave in Southern California.  SDC will use this autoclave to service its space, aircraft, missile, and canister product areas.  This investment is the latest step in SDC’s continual enhancement in production capabilities, providing customers with another available processing solution and the opportunity to cure larger composite parts in one piece.  The autoclave will be used for high pressure and high temperature curing of composite components at a maximum pressure of 150 psi and a maximum temperature of 500°F.  SDC’s acquisition of this newest autoclave adds to the company’s expanding fleet of processing equipment, which also includes a 6-ft diameter autoclave, two presses, four ovens with an individual capacity of up to 1,500 cubic feet, and a 40-ft long oven.  SDC has teamed with ASC Process Systems to have the autoclave fabricated on-site and operational in Q4 2015.
