SDC is building up a full service capability that supports a materials and structures systems engineering business with composite materials as the unique core competency of the company. Full service means design, analysis, fabrication, and testing. While IDEAS is the prime CAD capability, SDC personnel have experience with all of the key CAD software commercially available. The prime finite element analysis tool is NASTRAN, but again, personnel have experience in most other commercially available software including ANSYS and ABAQUS, as well as with a variety of special purpose aerothermal and composites analysis codes. These same capabilities will also be used for production programs as SDC develops its four business areas in Space Structures and Optics, Missile Defense Agency, Tactical Missile Systems, and Electronics and Thermal Management.
